The fourth exposium was held September 23, 2022. The theme this year was "Strive- Survive- Thrive." We opened the event with a trailer of the "Sounding the Belles- Our Stories!" We followed the documentary with information sessions from the following:
This years exposium was cancelled due to Covid 19. Join us on our Facebook page where we will be posting educational content throughout September for Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month.
With the goal to educate health professionals, we offered an accredited course designed for physicians, allied health professionals, and trainees. The Gynecologic Oncology Canada (GOC) Hereditary Cancer Course BRCA included renowned speakers in the field of Gynecologic Oncology delivering 4 modules, which was supplemented with personal accounts of BRCA from a patient perspective, as well as a panel discussion.
Belles with Balls NL made a donation of $15,000 to OCRE during this event.
The second annual exposium was another huge success! Following a similar format as the first exposium, attendees were exposed to Ovarian Cancer! It was both an emotional experience, as we heard first hand accounts from Ovarian Cancer survivors as well as educational experience hearing from a range of professionals regarding Ovarian Cancer and wellbeing.
Belles with Balls NL had the honour of donating $30,000 from recent fundraising efforts to OCRE during this event. More photos of the event can be found here.
OCRE’s first annual exposium was held on September 23, 2017. This one day event was the formal launch of the OCRE fund, which we at Belles with Balls NL proudly support. The exposium included a variety of speakers including an oncology nurse, gynecologic oncologists, genetics professionals, a pharmacist, sexologist, psychologist, dietitian and patients who shared their personal journeys with Ovarian Cancer. The event would not be possible without the sponsors- Faculty of Medicine, Memorial University, RJG Construction, East Coast Catering Ltd, Indigena Skin Care, Hickman Consulting Services, GRAND & TOY, Purity Factories Ltd., and Browning Harvey. A special thanks to RJG Construction who made a $25,000 donation to the OCRE fund during the event.

MAY 8th is WORLD OVARIAN CANCER DAY, and “Belles with Balls NL” presented their very own Documentary!
Filmed in Portugal Cove, directed by Roger Maunder, and produced by UP SKY DOWN FILMS, the 34-minute Documentary features the very personal stories of five NL women, from the trauma of initial personal or family member diagnosis, through to their survival or loss of a loved one. It also explores the signs and symptoms of Ovarian Cancer, provides an overview of genetic research being carried out in NL, and offers hope and advice in an effort to spread the word about this disease.
